Zanbard transports you to a plateau high in the Fanta mountains, where you meet Almydion and Herasia. Your quest is to find and retrieve the Orb of Lava, and, to do that, you will first have to find four "minor pearls". After the dialogue is over, if you click on Zanbard, you can save, get healed, or just talk to him (though he won't say anything until you've brought back the Orb). Save now. Enter the "Lava Caves" area at the top, then go across the bridge to enter the caves proper.
You're now in a random encounter zone. For "plain" LPII characters, Luci should go up to Lvl 42 early in this trial.
Click on the column (1) to get a Grokrl's Amulet (so now you have two, though you don't need more than one). You may not have used this item before, as the encounters up to this point have been fairly easy, but you should now- e.g., I'd advise it for Luci and Herasia against the Baby Drak' O Magmas.

The "Bloody Doors" (5) should now be open, so go up to the cat (6) and click on it. It will turn into Vata-Hansen, a sort of loony king chimp. I had Luci cast Protection twice, then Razor Sun; Herasia cast Poison Rain once, then either continue or use Grokrl's Amulet; Almydion Attacked (can sometimes get good damage) or used Grokrl's Amulet. Almydion will probably have to cast Wave a few times.
After the battle, pick up the Red Pearl, the last of the four pearls you need. Go back to Zanbard if you want to save or heal (get your MP back), then go through the door behind where the cat was standing. To Page 11
