There are healing Fanta Berries around the lake (1). You can take as many as you want (i.e., 99), so click away- these heal MP more than HP, so you're better off using G-Wave to heal and the Berries to replenish MP. Save at the flame (2). If you move onto the lake, Luci will decide to rest- so do this now.
Next, Zanbard will appear and, after some dialogue, goes off again. Luci goes to have a shower in the waterfall and a Demon, Rogwaar Ogrenion, ambushes her. This is a staged fight- you're not meant to win in "normal" combat, so don't bother doing anything. In the first round, he knocks Luci down to 1 HP, and before he can strike again Luci manages to cast a spell she doesn't have, Ark Flare. This impresses Zanbard.
As it happens, there is somewhat of a bug (or perhaps an oversight) with the above battle. An imported LPI character carrying The Box Of Moanings has a good chance of killing the Demon outright in the first round. However, this does not stop the course of events- Ark Flare is still cast (on an empty space), and Zanbard still has his dialogue.
Ok, you're now going to be in this area for a bit, killing Foxbears and Wolfbears. Just go on a killing spree, and with an unlimited supply of Fanta Berries, you can cast what you want. Just Razor Sun and G-Wave your way around, no point in being subtle. Save often. Eventually, Luci will stop saying "I'd like to train a bit more" when you click on her bed (3). About time, too.
Next, Zanbard appears again, to tell you that it's time for a small trial. He says that you will be joined by Almydion (another one of his pupils), and takes you away to start this now. To Page 6
